The Middle Coast
Mary left me the house and three kids
She took her life yeah, and everything with it
I move to the west coast
It’s the same as the east coast
Running around, yeah, following your ghost.
Tell me what you want
And baby, if it’s good
I’ll give you everything that I know I should
I miss you most in the mornings
Come this time next year, yeah, I’ll still be mourning
I give you my life and I’m happy with it
Spend six years, yeah, to find you don’t know shit
I know deep down,
I was a good man
I know, I know, I know, I know, I know I was the best man…
Tell me what you want and baby if it’s good
I’ll give you all the things that I know I should
I miss you most in the mornings
I still see your face, yeah, I’m still mourning.

I think this should be an AN song. I refuse to play drums on it though. It’s perfect the way it is. I think it could be pulled off live without a full band, and not seem cheesy too.

I agree, it would lose a lot of effect if it became a full-out, distorted, drummed song. Still, on the first few listens, it feels like it needs some other element to fill it out: another guitar part (like “Stranger Things have Happened”), or a cello or something. You’ll figure it out.

i love the song. and i hope you decide to play it at one of your shows. even if it’s just Shekey sitting on a wooden bar stool with a guitar in hand.
